The Triathlon 15 – Triathlon Training
15 Sessions for Pre-Race Performance and Post-Race Recovery
Our tailor-made Triathlon training, the Triathlon 15 was created for triathletes who want to train before a race and recover stronger than when they started. The Battle Born Heath approach reserves 10 physical therapy sessions pre-race and 5 post-race.
Pre-Race
Your 10 pre-race sessions start about four months prior to your main Triathlon event. We will see you 4X the first month and 2X months 2 through 4.
Post-Race
Your last 5 sessions will be focused on the recovery phase. Our goal is to get you even stronger than you were before the race so you don’t experience any type of lingering injury. We want you stronger coming out of the race than when you went in!
How It Works
Evaluation
We want to “clean-up” what’s not working for you so that you won’t have compensations that will result in injury. Your physical therapist will work with you one-on-one to evaluate your:
- Running mechanics
- Sprinting mechanics
- Shoulder mechanics
- Joint structure
- Mobility issues or sticking points
- Overall strength
- Endurance levels and goals
- Any past or recurring injuries
Creating Your Triathlon Training Plan
We will create a strength, mobility and training program to get you strong and conditioned so that you can have a high-performing race and avoid injury. This will consist of in-office training and manual work, as well as at-home exercises and conditioning, and nutrition recommendations.
Post-Race – It’s not Rehab, it’s Prehab!
Your last 5 sessions will be focused on the recovery phase. Our goal is to get you even stronger than you were before the race so you don’t experience any type of lingering injury. We want you stronger coming out of the race than when you went in!
Rehab means we are recovering from an injury. Our goal is to never have you get hurt in the first place! That’s why we focus on prehab in the recovery phase – to make sure you don’t get hurt in that next race. The volume required by a triathlon makes a difference. If you choose to compete in these types of long, multidisciplinary races, we want to get rid of any deficiencies or compensation, restore symmetry and build strength and endurance. Symmetry and balance are crucial for success in long races like triathlons. Rest and recovery is where the magic happens and what ensures you can compete season after season.
